Re: [OT] OpenSource Documentation Fund

I don't disagree with this, once of the ways they have gotten around
this
problem is including CD's in the books. This gives a perceived value
add. 

Although anyone can do the same thing. There are way around this though.
If people release their documentation under the OPL for example. It
could allow for free distribution but does not allow other publishers to
print the book.

The other item, is that most publishers do not want to put the work into
the free documentation. That is why we only see snippets of it published
anymore.

I don't know that their is any one answer but at least OpenDocs is
trying to help.

Instead of asking why a piece of software is using "1970s technology,"
start asking why software is ignoring 30 years of accumulated wisdom.
